History Of Valentine's Day

The History of Valentine Day started with St. Valentine,But who is St. Valentine and why this February 14th as Valentine's Day.
Well, everything is mystery but yes the month of February is definitely a month of romance.
Three saints are recognized as the Valentine or Valentinus and all of them were martyred.
St. Valentine was a priest during the reign of Emperor Claudius II and defied his orders to perform secretly marriages for men against the orders of the king who though that single men made better soldiers.
On theory is that St. Valentine helped Christians escape the brutalities of Roman prisons Now to a more romantic story, this suggests that Valentine fell in love with a jailor's daughter and then before his death he wrote a letter to her and signed the letter as "From your Valentine"
In Great Britain , the valentine day tradition began around the seventeenth century and by the turn of the eighteenth century it was very common in the social classes to exchanges handwritten notes and affectionate letters
