Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner

No Thanksgiving day will be complete without a traditional thanksgiving dinner. It is this traditional dinner which marked the first thanksgiving and also it means that you actually pay respect to some old traditions.

Planning for a Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner
If you are hosting a dinner for the thanksgiving at your place then you need to have your pen and paper out for doing some realistic planning.
Each part of the three course meal will need some amount of preparation especially the turkey and preparation time for the turkey.

So looking at the timetable you need probably a week in advance for the planning for the thanksgiving dinner.

A week I say because you need to buy the turkey as well. If you are not buying fresh turkey then you need more time as that means that you will be ordering either online or get the frozen one. Frozen ones need three days of thawing.

If you are likely to spend amount of money on thanksgiving gifts then you need to do the shopping in advance for the gifts but yes if you are waiting for the day after thanksgiving sales to officially kick off the Christmas season for you then it is a separate issue.

Turkey needs to be prepared with some stuffing so you need to prepare the turkey stuffing two days in advance so that you are have the stuffing ready when the turkey is ready to be cooked after the thawing.

In fact all roast dishes have to have gravy alongside and you can prepare this gravy also two days in advance

Mashed potatoes, soup and the dessert can be done one day in advance without the fear of them feeling stale. That way you have the whole of the Thanksgiving Day morning for yourself and to decorate and clean the house as opposed to preparing dishes.

Also you have the thanksgiving turkey to be prepared on that morning.

A day before the thanksgiving dinner you will need to brine the turkey and let refrigerate overnight and that way you will have a juicy turkey prepared the next day.

Then comes the dinner time and you need to have had the turkey put away in the oven some few hours before the dinner.

At the thanksgiving dinner time you should be putting the turkey out from the oven and before that should have served the appetizers as well as the soup so that turkey is carved and eaten as soon as you have it out of the oven and colored.

Enjoy the traditional thanksgiving dinner and happy thanksgiving to all .
