Some time back I did a post on the traditional thanksgiving dinner and this post is a follow up to that post which said that the traditional thanksgiving food items in the dinner item should be what?

Well let e first go back to the time when the pilgrims were in there and they were supposed to be having the food or the feast and what did they have for the first dinner. That will really tell us if we can come close to anything that they had.

In the modern world we have the usual pumpkin pie, cornbread and the roast turkey which is good in the modern era and even this tradition started way back so we are good there.
In 1621 the harvest festival was started to thank the god that they have survived and thought the journey and the struggles in Mayflower and a severe draught in the Plymouth.

So they celebrated by having the meal which consisted of deer, fowls and cornbread. The residents of Plymouth at that time had the lobster,, rabbit, chicken squashes, beans and chestnuts. A stew of dried fruits, pumpkin and the boiled vegetables were the other things that came in handy.

So these were the traditional thanksgiving menu items and the food habits of the colonists vary greatly form the food habits of the Wappanoags.

That said there are a lot of thanksgiving menu items as well as a lot of thanksgiving side dishes that will help you get a good deals in terms of the choices and you can take a pick from that choice of foods.

Apart from that there is the main things which is the thanksgiving turkey recipes that I have listed it out here and which is of course the whole thanksgiving dinner in itself.

Also one last thing as far as the traditional thanksgiving food go and that is to make sure that the dinner table has the thanksgiving cornucopia as the thanksgiving centerpiece.
